The 5th annual Newcomers Festival in Munich on 6 May was a tremendous success, attracting 3,500 visitors and 67 exhibitors. This far exceeded the organizers' initial expectations. This year’s Newcomers Festival was officially opened by Bavarian Economics Miniser Erwin Huber, who also toured the event, visiting with several exhibitors. In his opening remarks, Huber noted: "For international companies to have continued success in Bavaria, pure economics factors are just as important as the so-called soft factors for investment. Employees who feel at home in their new surroundings perform better at work…That is the reason why we support the Newcomers Festival, which we consider part of the support we provide companies from the Bavarian Economics Ministry."

Also mark your calendars for the 7th annual Newcomers Festival in Frankfurt, which will be held this year directly in Frankfurt’s City Hall (Römer) on Sunday 9 September from 1-6 pm.
The Newcomers Festival consists of an extensive exhibition of services, clubs and organizations in the area. It is designed to be a family-oriented and informative event that allows the international community to discover the attractiveness and diversity of Frankfurt-Rhein-Main as a business location.

For the fifth time we are organizing the annual business competition “Together in Hessen” for the Hessen Ministry of Economics. The award is meant to distinguish companies which have developed strategies for successfully integrating their international employees. In early July, as a prelude to the competition, we arranged a conference on international human resource management. Among the featured speakers were representatives of Lufthansa, IKEA and former “Together in Hessen” award recipient, Dr. Thomas Schneider-Bienert. The conference offered Hessian HR managers and business professionals the opportunity to discuss the successful integration of international employees in practice and in theory.

We are finished updating the annual Newcomers Guide, an English-language guidebook for living and working in the Frankfurt-Rhein-Main region. Specifically targeted for the international community, the Newcomers Guide takes readers step-by-step through the process of adjusting to life in the region. Now going into its 4th edition, the 2007 Newcomers Guide contains latest information to help new arrivals find their way around the unfamiliar surroundings of Frankfurt-Rhein-Main and will first be distributed at the Newcomers Festival in Frankfurt on September 9th.

We are also planning a separate edition for the Düsseldorf region, which is scheduled for distribution at the Düsseldorf Newcomers Festival on November 4th.
